Daphne has now been rehomed.
Daphne is a typical 11 month old chocolate bitch puppy. She can be boisterous and playful; she loves food and going out. She can be shy with strangers but can soon be won round.
Of course she does not obey all the time and she can be strong on the lead, but she is learning and her current owners have made progress in setting her on the right path to becoming a wonderful typical Labrador.
However, for Daphne, her young life has not been smooth and she has had a serious viral infection that has left her needing medication and care at least for the time being. We are hopeful that she will make a full recovery as she grows older and the care she now needs will reduce and eventually be unnecessary. This is likely to take up to a year. Trouble is that, for most of the time, she thinks there is nothing wrong with her! This means a new owner will have to look out for her and keep her operating within the limits that her condition allows.
She will be rehomed as an ‘assisted dog’. This means that Labrador Rescue South East and Central will pay for the ongoing costs of treatment for this condition.
We are looking for a home for Daphne that will have someone at home and available for all of each day. A home where she can rely on someone being nearby. They should be experienced Labrador owners who will be able to help with her current medical needs. Although she has lived with young children we would prefer a home with either no children or older teenagers who would be able to fully understand the care she needs.
If you think you might be Daphne’s new owner and would like to know more about her and the care she needs at the moment please give us a ring.
We would prefer a home in Kent so that we are able to offer
any necessary support to a new owner.
