A Very Special Home Needed for a Very Special Boy
We are looking for an equally special home for this very handsome young Labrador, aged 1 year and 6 months. He is fully vaccinated and microchipped, and despite everything he’s been through, he remains a typical bright and affectionate young Lab at heart.
Sadly, this lad hasn’t had the easiest start in life and has recently been diagnosed with a cruciate ligament tear. This injury will require surgery, followed by a lengthy and carefully managed recovery period. The good news is that the charity will fully support the financial costs of the operation and all aftercare treatment — you won’t be facing this journey alone.
Because of his injury, we are looking for a quiet, understanding home with someone who ideally has experience managing this type of condition, or who is willing and able to commit to the rehabilitation process. He will need patient carers who can provide structured aftercare and give him the time and calm environment he needs to heal. A home with children aged 16 and over would be suitable, provided they understand his need for rest and recovery.
We would prefer him to be the only dog in the household, allowing him to focus fully on his recovery, though we may consider a home with a much older, calm dog.
He already knows his basic commands and walks well on a harness, although he is currently on restricted exercise. As a young Labrador, he is naturally energetic and enthusiastic, so potential adopters should be aware that the enforced rest following surgery may lead to some frustration, and he will need guidance, patience, and mental stimulation during this time.
To ensure he receives the best possible support, we are currently only accepting applications from the counties listed above, as we would like him to remain within the area. This will allow the Area Coordinator to offer hands-on support and carry out regular visits to monitor his progress.
If you register your interest, the Area Coordinator will contact all applicants, and if a home is considered suitable, the next step will be a home check.
If you feel you could offer this brave boy the calm, loving, and committed home he deserves, we would love to hear from you. With the right support, he has every chance of a happy, active future ahead of him.
